2.How Does a Steel Slitting Line Work?
A complete steel slitting machine mainly consists of precision components such as a decoiler, tension station, front loop, main coil slitter, waste collection device, back loop, recoiler, etc. First, the wide coil material is loaded onto the decoiler at the entrance of the steel slitting machine. Then, the decoiler uses an expandable mandrel to clamp the inner diameter of the coil. The coil rotates and unwinds from the mandrel, and the leading edge of the material is fed into the edge guiding device of the steel slitting machine. Next, the material is fed lengthwise into the slitting head, which consists of two parallel shafts. These parallel shafts are fitted with a set of custom-made rotary slitting blades and rubber stripping rings. The rubber rings help pull the material through the slitting shafts, while the blades penetrate the steel, causing the material to break or tear. Finally, the slitted material is rewound into coils by the recoiler for packaging and transportation.
